Fitness & Vitamin C Supplements

For many years I have consumed mega-doses of over the counter Vitamin C to strengthen the immune system. Vitamin C has been a miraculous remedy for me in certain instances. In the most recent past, say 10 years, I haven’t been hospitalized due to influenza. There are many varieties of Vitamin C and there is the highly absorbent liposomal vitamin C. Among the many benefits of Vitamin C it prevents free radical damage, boosts the immune system, accelerates healing from infectious diseases, hay fever, allergies, improves your bones and skin health (maintaining glycogen under the skin) and enhances diabetic conditions and heart disease. There are numerous benefits of the more powerful liposomal vitamin C.  I am highly influenced by Linus Pauling’s research, Suzanne Humphries, M.D. (Internist and Nephrologist), Frederick Klenner, M.D and others.
Dr. Humphries has made numerous talks on the benefits of liposomal Vitamin C and its impact on severe colds.  In this day and age proper nutrition, supplements and exercise are vital for optimal health and fitness. The feeling of fitness is having incredible energy and flexibility for your age without depending on coffee and other substances. Our energy is derived from eating natural foods, exercise and making adjustments at hormonal decline to build the body back up. Exercise is a way of rejuvenating the body. It is another way of healing the body. When you’re strong and fit, it will protect you from viruses and other ailments. I heard once that athletes can eat almost anything they want (regular foods) because of their high metabolism and their athletic work habit. They don’t suffer the weight gain from eating fatty foods. Their lives aren’t sedentary. They’ve maintained a high percentage of muscle mass and their bodies immediately use the food consumed as energy in metabolizing process which is the breaking down of carbohydrates, proteins and fats into smaller units or energy sources. The smaller units aren’t stored as fat cells. The law of thermodynamics applies here, where energy taken in is equal to energy taken out or used by exerting yourself. Food is energy and the calories that are consumed are utilized by a fit body to accomplish the exercises that are implemented. It is well-advised to know and understand as much as possible about how our bodies function.
A good fitness program includes proper food intake, multivitamins, cardiorespiratory exercise, resistance training, and supplements. Foods rich in vitamins will help protect our cells from oxidation. Anti-oxidant supplements are of a tremendous benefit. Most well-known anti-oxidants are vitamin B3, C, E, ALA and coenzyme Q10 just to name a few. In order to reach your fitness goals I would recommend the following five components that involve food intake and exercise:
Nutrition – Proper nutrition and exercise are vital for optimal health. Many people get discouraged with their exercise program because they are not getting the results that they expect. Part of the reason may be that they are not eating properly or don’t know what is nutritious. Time may be another issue. Satisfaction comes with proper nutrition which includes carbohydrates, proteins & fats. Obtaining a feeling satiety is essential.
Exercise Frequency – The number of exercise sessions that are done per week is called the frequency. This is best accomplished by aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is an activity that is continuous, raises your heart rate above normal or resting, and uses the large muscle groups of the body. It is reported that this will help reduce chances of heart disease, hypertension and even colon cancer.
Exercise Intensity – How hard your heart is working during any physical activity is called the intensity. The intensity of an activity is used to determine the total caloric expenditure. Often people work out too hard and long. This can lead to over-training, lack of motivation, and possible injuries.
Exercise Time – Duration is also used to determine total caloric expenditure of a physical activity. A common statement that people make is that they don’t have enough time to exercise.
Consistency – Believing enables you to achieve. Many people don’t believe that an exercise program will help them to attain their goal. Belief in exercise will help you to reach your goals.
